Prior to joining Burford, Mr. Lundberg practiced for 35 years at Latham & Watkins, where he served long terms as the Global Chair of the firm’s Insurance Coverage Litigation Practice and Chair of its Los Angeles Litigation Department. In addition to handling a variety of other complex commercial cases, he litigated coverage actions in state and federal courts nationwide and counseled numerous Fortune 500 companies on insurance matters. The Los Angeles Business Journal profiled Mr. Lundberg as one of Los Angeles’s top dozen litigators, and from the time it began ranking the category, Chambers & Partners’ America’s Leading Business Lawyers named him one of the top dozen policyholder attorneys in America. He was also listed annually as a leading insurance practitioner in The Legal 500, The Best Lawyers in America and Guide to the World’s Leading Insurance & Reinsurance Lawyers. In 2017, Best Lawyers named him Los Angeles’s Insurance Lawyer of the Year.

Mr. Lundberg graduated with honors from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review and a teaching fellow for Prof. Archibald Cox, and has an undergraduate degree with distinction in Philosophy from Stanford University. Before entering private practice, Mr. Lundberg clerked for the Hon. George E. MacKinnon of the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit. He is a four-time summitter of his home state's Mount Rainier and an eleven-time place winner of the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest.
