Our Special guest this week, Sam Ardery, Mediator, Negotiator, Professor, Speaker & Consultant, will present on:
The Justice Gene and the Problem of Righteousness
Deep in our bellies is an innate sense of what is right, fair and just. This is the place we experience the "justice gene." We trust in our own common sense, which has landed us in our current spot in this life. But what happens when we are sure we are right, and so are others who profoundly disagree? This is where one person's justice gene meets that of another. Conflict abounds, and how we choose to engage it or avoid it impacts us and those we encounter. How might we engage with courage, compassion, and wisdom? One approach is a process I call PARC, and we will discuss it in the podcast.
Sam Ardery has mediated more than 4,000 litigated disputes throughout the country. He has taught negotiation to hundreds of lawyers who practice around the world. He is the author of Positively Conflicted, a book addressing conflicts in wide-ranging contexts (Available on Amazon). Sam speaks to lawyers and non-lawyers alike on conflict, negotiation, and mediation. He and his wife, Patty, have been married since 1983, and they live with their Boston Terrier, Ernie Pyle, in a home that backs up to a school yard in the Midwest.
