Mr. Weathers is Aleut and an enrolled member of the Qawalangin Tribe of Unalaska in Alaska. Mr. Weathers is the principal and owner of The Law Offices of Thomas Eagle Weathers, P.C. where he practices Indian law, business law, and related litigation. He is also “of counsel” to Monty White LLP, a well-regarded, full-service law firm located in San Rafael, California.

 

Mr. Weathers has practiced law for almost 30 years. He advises and litigates on behalf of tribal and non-tribal clients on a range of matters involving contracts, torts, governance, economic development, gaming, finance, taxation, land use, real estate, eminent domain, leasing, rights-of-way, commercial ventures, administrative law, insurance, energy development, construction, cannabis, transportation, employment, personnel, housing, code drafting, and Indian child welfare. Mr. Weathers has served as general counsel to several Indian tribes.

 

He has also negotiated hundreds of agreements worth millions of dollars dealing with financing, consulting, management, operating, loans, partnerships, construction, purchasing, employment, licensing, leasing, land use, easement, and real estate. He has also counselled clients in complicated tax, insurance, and business matters, and successfully litigated in tribal, state, and federal courts across the country. Mr. Weathers has also helped clients restructure substantial debt, renegotiate loans in default, obtain complex financing, and realize economic development opportunities. He has extensive corporate and litigation expertise.
