This week, our special guest will be Gerry O’Sullivan. She will present on:

Formulating and Asking Questions in Mediation

Ms. O’Sullivan will deliver a brief overview of The S Questions Model developed in her book: 'The Mediator's Toolkit: Formulating and Asking Questions for Successful Outcomes'. She will then focus on some of the methods of questions that can lead to a paradigm shift in the thinking of parties, in particular, the ‘Journey of Inference Questions’ which explore a person’s journey from their observations and interpretations through to their resulting and linked actions/reactions. She will then illustrate two types of ‘Other People Questions’ which gently open a party’s mind to considering some alternative perspectives.

Gerry O’Sullivan delivers professional mediation training accredited by The Mediators’ Institute of Ireland and she provides a mediation service through her company O’Sullivan Solutions (www.osullivansolutions.ie). She has been working in the area of facilitation and conflict for over 35 years.
Gerry has authored ‘The Mediator’s Toolkit: Formulating and Asking Questions for Successful Outcomes’ It is published by New Society Publishing, Canada. She has also developed an advanced training programme based on this book and it is also delivered online.
In addition to training, Gerry is certified in organizational and workplace mediation, community mediation, civil and commercial mediation and separating couples’ mediation. Her expertise is in working with disputes with high emotional content, such as clerical sexual abuse, family and community disputes.
Mediation Training Delivery
Gerry delivers Mediators’ Institute of Ireland accredited mediation training. She has delivered conflict and mediation training internationally with Lawyers Without Borders, in partnership with the director of training from CEDR, and as an externally employed trainer with CEDR U.K. She has also delivered training in Cuba, in the Palestinian West bank and to ACT in East Jerusalem, as well as in London, U.K.
