Our Special guest this week, Mr. Michael Rust, Court Commissioner will present on:
Lawyering in an Emoji World
Communication is changing. Faster, shorter, and more on-demand. This has reignited old problems and sparked new problems. Emojis have emerged as a cultural solution to some of these problems. How can lawyers, mediators, and judges use and interpret emojis to be more effective, efficient, and accurate in communicating and analyzing communications?
You might say that Michael Rust is addicted to conflict. He is an attorney, has three kids, is dating an attorney, and had a cat and a dog prior to getting divorced from another attorney - so conflict is his life. Michael is CEO of the Winnebago Conflict Resolution Center and Managing Director of the Fond du Lac Conflict Resolution Center. He performs complex commercial and family mediations throughout the Midwest and trains mediators around the United States. Michael served as President of the Association for Conflict Resolution and the Wisconsin Association of Mediators, Chair of the Dispute Resolution Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin, and Mediation Partner for the Wisconsin Special Education Mediation System. He is a Member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a graduate of Marquette University Law School, and received the Beacon Award (Distinguished Alumni) from the Carthage College Alumni Association in 2019. Michael has lectured at universities around the world and as a frequent speaker and trainer Michael is a member of the National Speakers Association and has presented at 3 TEDx conferences around the United States.
